FCEDC Welcomes New Vice President

Rob Patton FCEDC

FAYETTEVILLE, NC — The Fayetteville Cumberland Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC) is happy to announce Robert “Rob” S. Patton Jr. has filled the role of Vice President. Rob holds a B.A. in History from the University of California, an M.S. in Operational Art and Science from Air University, and more than 25 years of active duty experience in the U.S. Army. A combat-proven leader transitioning to the civilian workforce, he has an extensive background in directing complex operations in high-pressure settings and solving strategic global issues.

Patton will lead FCEDC alongside President and CEO, Robert Van Geons on international relations and business development. Additionally, he will be responsible for strategic planning, domestic and international business attraction, and economic development program management.

“The U.S. Army plays a crucial role here in Fayetteville and Cumberland County. Rob’s many years of service as a U.S. Army Colonel is just one of the many reasons we chose him to join our team,” said Robert Van Geons, president and CEO of FCEDC. “His vast network of military contractors and extensive Department of Defense relationships will provide an asset to our city and county as we grow investment in the sector.”

Rob has been a Fayetteville resident since 2016 when he transferred to Fort Bragg as the Senior Vice President for Logistics for the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command. During his career, he received the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, five Meritorious Service Medals, the Humanitarian Service Medal, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. Previous stations include Fort Stewart, Georgia, Irving, Texas, and more. Rob also has a certification as a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt. “Having spent many years in Fayetteville while serving on Fort Bragg, I have an outstanding feel for the community and the military,” said Patton. “I plan to use my experiences and leadership to make a lasting positive impact for the community. I look forward to reaching our maximum potential!”

FCEDC would like to welcome its newest team member and is enthusiastic about upcoming domestic and international development initiatives.
